Books and reading data live on your devices and in your personal iCloud storage when syncing is available.
Installed voices, speech recognition, and supported Apple Intelligence answers process your content on device.
The Full Library unlock is purchased through the App Store. We do not receive your payment-card details.
This Privacy Policy explains how Danny Ruchtie, the provider of Rise, handles information when you use the Rise app, visit this website, or contact support. Rise is a personal EPUB and PDF reader with narration, reading checkpoints, bookmarks, and questions about your books.
We do not sell personal information or use your library to build advertising profiles. You do not need to create a separate Rise account.
Imported books, extracted text, covers, bookmarks, reading positions, and app preferences are stored on your device. Rise processes book text locally for reading, narration, and on-device questions; we do not receive your library through a Rise-operated content server.
When iCloud is available, Rise uses Apple’s iCloud services to sync book files and reading checkpoints between your devices. This data is associated with your Apple Account and handled through Apple’s infrastructure. iCloud availability, storage, and protection depend on your account and Apple’s settings.
Installed narration voices generate speech on your device. Voice packs are downloaded from GitHub; those download requests expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, to GitHub and its delivery providers. Your book text is not included in a voice-pack download.
On supported devices, questions and nearby book excerpts are processed with Apple’s on-device models. Voice questions require microphone and speech-recognition permission and use on-device recognition. Reading and listening do not require microphone access. You can change these permissions in your device settings.
Apple processes the Full Library purchase. Rise uses StoreKit purchase and entitlement information to unlock features and restore purchases; we do not receive your card number or full payment details.
Rise records whether the one free personal import has been used in local settings, the device Keychain, and iCloud key-value storage. This small allowance record is separate from your book files. Deleting a book does not reset it, and a Keychain record may remain after uninstalling the app.
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand page visits, traffic sources, and general device and browser information. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies to identify visitors. We do not send book content or app library data to website analytics. The hosting service may process ordinary web-request information, including IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the site.
Rise keeps local diagnostic information to help investigate errors. Apple may provide crash or diagnostic reports according to your device’s analytics-sharing settings. If you send a report to support, share only information you are comfortable disclosing.
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to answer your request, investigate problems, and provide support. Do not send complete books, confidential manuscripts, or payment credentials unless necessary.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we process support information to respond to your request and provide the service, and rely on legitimate interests for security and troubleshooting. We may retain information where needed to meet legal obligations.
Apple provides App Store purchases, iCloud, and operating-system services. GitHub delivers downloadable voice packs. These providers process information under their own policies and may operate in countries outside your country of residence.
If you follow a link from Rise or this website to an external service, that service’s privacy practices apply.
Local library data remains until you remove it or the relevant app data. Removing a book from Rise does not necessarily remove all iCloud copies, device backups, or copies you saved elsewhere. Manage iCloud files and backups through Apple’s account and device controls.
We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve requests and meet reasonable legal or security needs. You can ask us to delete correspondence. The free-import allowance record remains separate so deleting books does not renew the free allowance.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, restrict its processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact us to make a request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
We can act on information we hold, such as support correspondence. We cannot directly access or delete your personal Apple Account data; use Apple’s controls for iCloud and purchase records.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be communicated where required.
